Having served over 35 years in Christian higher education, President David Hoag is an experienced leader, an expert in financing and fundraising, and, most importantly, a follower of Jesus Christ.
Before coming to Warner, he served as the Senior Vice President of University Advancement at Trinity International University and in leadership roles at Greenville College and Asbury College.
Dr. Hoag holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Saint Louis University, a Master of Science from the University of Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Science from Asbury University. He also has earned a Certificate of Achievement from Indiana University Center on Philanthropy Fundraising School.
Dr. Hoag is also the president of The Sun Conference, and serves on the executive committee for Council of Presidents for the NAIA. In the state of Florida, Dr. Hoag is the Chair of the Independent Colleges and Universities (ICUF), which keeps him active in Tallahassee, advocating for scholarship dollars for students.
They have two daughters, Jamie Sanfilippo (Ryan) and Joni Stanick (Scott), who are both married. All of them graduated from Christian universities.
Dr. Hoag is married to Joanna, whom he met in college, and they have been married for over 35 years. Dr. Hoag and Joanna met in college while she was the roommate to his sister. Joanna was also active in sports in college. After graduation, Joanna was very involved in coaching college softball and basketball. Joanna loves to have students and friends of the university in their home.
The Hoag’s believe they have been called to the “Ministry” of Christian education. Because of the many faculty and coaches who have invested in them, they want to model that right here at Warner. When you visit them in their home, hopefully you will get to enjoy some of Joanna’s legendary chocolate chip cookies.
What do the Hoag’s do for fun? When they have time away from all of the activities at Warner they love to be adventurous. Both of them own a Jeep, and they are members of the Orlando Jeep Club. Each year they volunteer at one of the largest Jeep events in the US, “Jeepin’ with Judd.” Dr. Hoag can be found leading Jeeps on the moderate courses out at Clear Springs Ranch. Their other favorite hobby is boating – when time allows they head down to the Marco Island area and love exploring the 10,000 Islands for shells and great fishing spots.
