Warner University Announces Dr. Shawn Craigmiles as Interim Academic Dean

Warner University is proud to announce that Dr. Shawn Craigmiles, Assistant Professor
of Bible, Theology, and Ministry, has agreed to serve as Interim Academic Dean after
Dr. Gentry Sutton’s move to the Advancement department. Dr. Craigmiles is currently in
his seventh year at Warner University.

For the past two years, Dr. Craigmiles has served as chair of the Ministry department.
He has become known across campus as an exemplary Warner faculty member: he
cares deeply about students, he is a charitable colleague, he is committed to academic
excellence, and he has a pastoral disposition that faculty, staff, and students appreciate.

In spring 2023, the faculty selected Dr. Craigmiles as Faculty Colleague of the Year, and
in spring 2024 the student body selected Dr. Craigmiles as Professor of the Year. He
works tirelessly on behalf of students and the university, and he has become a trusted
colleague and friend to many. He has also served on a number of important committees
and has been instrumental in significant curricular improvements related to the
university’s ministry programs and the general education courses housed in the Ministry
department.

Dr. Craigmiles holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Illinois
Springfield, a Master of Arts in New Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School,
and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Outgoing Chief Academic Officer Dr. Gentry Sutton says, “Dr. Craigmiles has everything
the university could want in an academic dean. He always does quality work, he is
thoughtful about every decision he makes, he cares about people, he has impressive
academic and intellectual ability, he loves Warner, and he cares deeply about protecting
the university’s biblical integrity. I and the faculty are appreciative that he has agreed to
serve in this new role.”

Dr. Craigmiles says, “Warner University is blessed to have wonderful faculty members
and incredible staff, and I am blessed by God to be able to work with them in this new
role as we all seek to fulfill Warner’s ongoing mission. These are my colleagues and
friends, and they have deep personal commitments to serve our Lord Jesus Christ both
publicly and privately. Please join us in praying for our students, our staff, and our
faculty during this time of transition, as we look forward to all that God is going to do
through us and in us!”
