Scholarships

Student Financial Aid Institutional (Fall/Spring) Scholarship Award Policy:

I. PURPOSE: The purpose of this policy is to establish consistent standards for awarding, administering, renewing, adjusting, and terminating Warner University institutional scholarships while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.

II. SCOPE: This policy applies to all students receiving Warner University institutional scholarships.

III. POLICY:

A. Institutional Scholarship Eligibility In order to be awarded an Institutional scholarship in Fall and Spring, students must be admitted, enrolled in an eligible degree program, enrolled each semester, remain in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing, and satisfy all scholarship renewal requirements. Students are responsible for complying with all published financial aid policies, institutional deadlines, and requests for documentation. Failure to provide requested information or documentation within the required timeframe may result in the reduction, cancellation, or delay of institutional scholarship funding.

B. Academic and Athletic Scholarships Academic and athletic scholarships are non-stackable. That is, a student may receive only one academic or athletic scholarship at a time, not both. Program, departmental, endowed, and other approved institutional scholarships may be stacked when permitted by the Office of Student Financial Services and applicable scholarship criteria.

C. Non-Transferability Institutional scholarships are non-transferable, have no cash value, may not be assigned to another individual, and may not be redeemed for cash.

D. Enrollment Requirement Students must be enrolled in a Fall or Spring semester to receive scholarship funding. Institutional scholarships require full-time enrollment unless the scholarship specifically states otherwise. Scholarships will be prorated based on actual enrollment hours for students who are in their last semester of enrollment. Failure to enroll or withdrawal may result in reduction or cancellation.

E. Graduation, Transfer, and Withdrawal Scholarships will not be paid early for graduation, transfer, withdrawal, or non-enrollment in future terms.

F. Athletic Scholarship Administration Coaches and employees who oversee non-athletic extra-curricular activities such as choir, the Honors Program, etc., may recommend reduction or cancellation of athletic scholarships for failure to meet team expectations, and/or obligations, or violations of team rules or the Student Handbook, subject to applicable NAIA rules and University approval.

G. Coordination with Other Financial Aid Institutional aid is awarded after all other federal, state, and external financial aid has been applied to the student’s account and may be adjusted, reduced, or canceled as necessary to maintain compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policy.

H. Remaining Eligible Charges Institutional aid will not exceed remaining eligible institutional charges.

I. Cost of Attendance Compliance Institutional scholarships will not cause a student’s total financial assistance to exceed the federally established Cost of Attendance.

J. Demonstrated Financial Need Need-based financial assistance will not exceed demonstrated financial need as determined through the FAFSA and federal methodology.

K. Institutional Scholarship Availability Scholarships are awarded each Fall and Spring, are subject to available funding, and are not guaranteed from year to year. Renewal is contingent upon continued eligibility and compliance with all University, federal, and state requirements. Institutional scholarship awards are subject to adjustment based on changes in enrollment status, financial aid eligibility, available funding, institutional policy, and applicable federal and state regulations.

L. Administrative Error and Award Corrections Warner University reserves the right to correct administrative, clerical, technical, or system errors affecting financial aid awards at any time. Award notifications issued in error do not create a contractual obligation. The University may adjust, reduce, cancel, or recover institutional aid to comply with federal or state regulations, Cost of Attendance limitations, demonstrated financial need requirements, enrollment changes, or University policy. Warner University will make every attempt to notify a student by email as soon as possible if we discover an error on their financial aid award letter.

M. Records and Documentation Students are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and timely documentation requested by the Office of Student Financial Services. Failure to provide required documentation by published deadlines may result in the reduction, cancellation, or delay of institutional scholarship funding.

N. Institutional Discretion The University reserves the right to review, adjust, suspend, reduce, or cancel institutional scholarship awards to maintain compliance with regulations and institutional policy.

O. Interpretation and Exceptions The Office of Student Financial Services is responsible for interpreting and administering this policy. No verbal statement, informal communication, email correspondence, or representation by any University employee shall supersede this policy or constitute a guarantee of institutional scholarship eligibility or funding. Any exception to this policy must be approved in writing by the Vice President of Finance or his or her designee. Exceptions granted under unique circumstances are limited to the specific situation for which they are approved and shall not establish a precedent for future students or future award years.
