Dr. Laurie Boulden, Associate Professor of Elementary Education, showcased her expertise at the National Council for Social Studies (NCSS) Annual Conference held November 22-24 in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Boulden delivered a well-received poster presentation, engaging with lots of social studies educators, administrators, and professionals from across the country.
The NCSS Annual Conference serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration among social studies professionals, providing opportunities to share best practices and reinvigorate teaching methods. Dr. Boulden’s presentation sparked valuable discussions and generated interest in new educational resources designed to enhance classroom learning.
Among the resources highlighted were two teacher guide booklets for elementary social studies, Dade Battlefield and Explorations into the US Space Program, which Dr. Boulden developed in collaboration with Katherine Lamar. These booklets are designed to support educators in creating impactful and engaging lesson plans. The guides can be accessed online at https://warner.edu/tps/.
“There seemed to be a lot of interest in the booklets, especially from elementary teachers and content specialists,” Dr. Boulden remarked. “I truly enjoy engaging with others about ways to make classroom learning exciting. These resources are designed to support that goal.”
Dr. Boulden is hopeful that the great response she has received from the booklets will lead to grant opportunities to produce more resources. Her dedication to advancing social studies education reflects her commitment to providing teachers with innovative tools to enrich classroom learning experiences.
