Sherrouse’s favorite memories and experiences from Warner come from the friendships he built during his time there. One of those friendships happens to be with the current Executive Director of the Haines City Chamber of Commerce Betsy Cleveland (BA’02), with whom he reconnected at a local leadership group.

“Since reconnecting, Betsy and I now see each other often while participating in Leadership Polk events,” said Sherrouse.

“We frequently comment on how our time together at Warner University laid the foundations for each of our professional paths to become leaders in our respective communities,” said Sherrouse. “Warner prepared us to lead and serve.”

Prior to his current position, Sherrouse was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Auburndale for four years and also served as their Community Development Director for six years.

He is a member of the Florida City/County Management Association (FCCMA) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), and was awarded with the FCCMA “B. Harold Farmer Scholarship” in 2013.

Sherrouse has two sons, Reagan who is 18 years old and in his senior year of high school and Brantley who is 16 and is a high school freshman.

“My boys and I are very close and love to just ‘hangout,’” said Sherrouse.  “They both enjoy my cooking, so home-cooked weekend meals provide some of our quality time together.”

We want to congratulate Shawn on his achievements and wish him and his family all the best!
