Dr. R. Mark Montgomery Publishes New Book on Missional Evangelism

Dr. R. Mark Montgomery, an adjunct professor at Warner University, has recently published Missional Hope: Unlocking Receptivity in the Narcissistic West. Peer-reviewed across three continents, this insightful work explores the intricate link between narcissism and shame in Western culture, offering valuable perspectives on effective evangelism and disciple-making in today’s complex world.

Described as “an intriguing diagnosis of the narcissism-shame dynamic,” Missional Hope provides practical strategies for engaging others with the Gospel, making it a valuable resource for individuals, small groups, and formal ministerial training programs alike.

Dr. Montgomery brings a wealth of experience to his writing. He serves as the Director of Nazarene Collegiate Fellowship at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene. As the founder of the BreakThrough Equipping Network, he has dedicated himself to recruiting and mentoring church planters and coaching pastors across the USA/Canada region. Currently, he coordinates Opportunity Knox, a church planting initiative stemming from his grassroots ministry at the University of Tennessee. This book builds upon Dr. Montgomery’s 2022 doctoral dissertation from Asbury Seminary, How Shame Shapes Church Planting: Exploring Impacts on Gospel Receptivity Among Emerging Adults, as well as his extensive ministry experience. Written in an accessible and practical style, Missional Hope is available now in paperback and Kindle formats on Amazon.
