Warner University is proud to shine a spotlight on Alona Robillard, who graduated in 2021. Recently recognized with the Golden Apple Award, Alona is making waves at West Bay Elementary School, where her classroom has become a safe haven for her fourth-grade students.
The Golden Apple Award is presented by WJHG News Channel 7-Panama City to honor outstanding educators throughout the school year, featuring a new teacher each week. This special award shines the spotlight on the teaching profession and shows gratitude for the incredible work teachers do every day.
Alona’s journey to becoming an influential educator began at Warner University, where she cultivated her passion for learning and her commitment to making a difference. During her time at Warner, Alona was actively involved on campus as an Academic Skills Center Tutor, helping students with assignments and navigating online resources. She also served as a Student Life Lead, organizing pop-up events to engage students, and as an Orientation Group Leader, guiding freshmen and transfer students through their transition to college life. These roles helped shape her leadership and communication skills, preparing her for the impactful teaching career she leads today.
Graduating in spring 2021 with a degree in Elementary Education, Alona continues to inspire curiosity and engagement as she guides her students through the challenges of fourth-grade math, turning complex topics into opportunities for growth.
A firm believer in Jesus Christ, Alona is passionate about teaching elementary students. She believes that every student, regardless of circumstance, race, or academic level, has the potential to be successful. “It is my goal to reach these students and plant words of wisdom, encouragement, and kindness so they can achieve their academic goals and become productive members of society,” Alona shared.
Looking to the future, Alona aspires to continue her journey in education and eventually work her way up to principalship, where she can expand her impact on students and the community.
Her own experience as a student serves as a powerful reminder of the impact a teacher can have. “It was a pre-calculus class that I struggled in all the time. The teacher of that class changed my whole education, and from college and beyond, I started to excel. If I can help a student like that, that’s why I’m here,” Alona explained.
Warner University celebrates Alona Robillard for her unwavering commitment to education and her remarkable journey of inspiring young minds. Congratulations, Alona, on receiving the Golden Apple Award! Your passion and dedication are a true testament to the power of education and the impact of a caring teacher.
