LAKELAND, FL (Jan.  16, 2014) Philip Maschke, instructor of communications at Warner University in Lake Wales has been appointed to the board of directors of the Dick Pope/Polk County Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.

The appointment was announced by Katy Martin, president of the Dick Pope/Polk County FPRA chapter, during the chapter’s monthly professional development meeting on January 15 at Cleveland Heights Golf & Country Club in Lakeland.

As a member of the FPRA board, Maschke will be responsible for programs and professional development, including the local chapter’s involvement in FPRA’s Image Awards competition. He also will assist the committee for the 2014 Carillon Classic 5K Run and Walk, an FPRA charity event being staged at Bok Tower Gardens on May 3.

Maschke fills a vacancy on the board created when Pamela Crane stepped down after accepting a public relations position with the Florida Department of Health in Tallahassee. She formerly served in a public relations capacity at the Polk County Health Department in Bartow.

Named in honor of Cypress Gardens’ founder Dick Pope, Sr., the Dick Pope/Polk County chapter is one of 15 chapters of Sarasota-based FPRA. Local chapter meetings are on the third Wednesday of every month at Cleveland Heights and are open to the public.
