Nancy Anderson, Social Work Field Education Director at Warner University, serves as the Department of Florida Legislative Chair for the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA).

In her position as Legislative Chair, she is active in working with the American Legion and government officials at all levels to advocate for the needs of veterans, active duty military and their families. She works with ALA Units across the state to keep them informed of important legislative activity that may impact veterans and their families, encouraging them to contact their government officials. She attended the Washington D.C. conference in February 2013 along with Legion members and Auxiliary members to “walk the Hill”, meeting personally with members of congress advocating for the unique needs to our service members past and present and their families.

As a result of this activity she received an award from the National Legislative Chairman and the National President of the ALA for Most Outstanding Legislative Program by a Department in the Southern Division.

Nancy has a passion for advocating for vulnerable populations and those in need.  Each year she takes a group of social work students to Tallahassee to meet with their legislative representatives so they can have the experience of advocating for the rights and the needs of oppressed and vulnerable populations.
