As music is important to the quality of life, this is also true for music at Warner University. The Department of Fine Arts is one of the most enriching programs on campus. There is a definite need to our society for trained music educators and music ministers and this department is preparing individuals for service in these areas each year. The Department of Fine Arts is seeking to fill classrooms and churches with individuals trained and ready to serve God. This department has effectively prepared many graduates presently serving in churches and schools. Each student leaves the Department of Fine Arts with well-rounded experiences in music theory, music history and literature, conducting, private instruction and ensemble work. Additionally, Music Education majors have training in public schools systems, child development, curriculum and computers. Church Music majors have training in Bible, church ministry, church administration and worship.
The Department of Fine Arts not only offers quality music courses but also offers opportunity for growth through the public relations ensembles representing the college each year. During the academic year, they include: the Concert Choir, Collegiate Chorale, and Young Americans. These groups give students hands-on experience interacting with the community, church, and school, as well as with each other. These opportunities and experiences challenge participants to grow through service.
There are also opportunities for students through groups that travel during the summer months. Selected during the spring semester, the persons in this ensemble travel 4 to 6 weeks of the summer throughout the United States leading churches, youth camps, and campmeetings in concerts and musical worship services.
Warner Southern's Music Education and Music Ministry programs have a good reputation, an excellent faculty, outstanding graduates, and provides a wonderful opportunity to prepare for a career as persons who help others with the international language of music. The Department of Fine Arts is committed to preparing persons to serve as God's agents in the classrooms and the churches of the United States and beyond.
