Warner Southern College is located five miles south of Lake Wales in Polk County, Florida. Its 380-acre campus is found on both sides of US Highway 27. The east campus borders Crooked Lake, designated as an Outstanding Florida Water by the state of Florida, and is the location for the Raines Administrative Building, the Fulton Fine Arts Building and Williams Hall where Communication Arts, Bible and Church Ministry departments and student housing are located. The west campus facilities include the Rigel Student Center, the Pontious Learning Resource Center, Turner Athletic Center, Spencer Hall and athletics fields. The west campus borders native Florida woodlands and is home to H.E.A.R.T., a missionary training center.
Lake Wales
Lake Wales, a growing community of 11,300 is near the crossroads of US Highway 27 and State Road 60, located in the center of the state between Tampa and Orlando. Lake Wales is a charming Main Street community with a heritage that is reflected in its historic, cultural and recreational venues. Polk County rates first in citrus production and fourth in cattle.
Academic Excellence
Only two presidents have lead Warner Southern College since it was founded in 1968. Dr. Leroy Fulton was the first president. Dr. Gregory V. Hall has led the college since 1991. Under their leadership, the school has earned a reputation for academic excellence. Warner Southern has earned recognition in U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Colleges" as one of the best regional liberal arts colleges in the south for campus diversity and for a low student/teacher ratio. The growing body represents 24 states and 19 countries. Eighty-eight percent of the students are from Florida.Warner Southern College offers the Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts and Masters in Business Administration degrees. Students can choose from more than 20 different majors. Business, Bible & Church Ministry and Teacher Education are the largest departments. An Online Church Ministry Degree is the first of its kind offered in the Church of God.
Adult Education
A strong adult education program meets the needs of many local citizens as well as business people around the country who are seeking a degree. Classroom sites are located in DeLand, Orlando, Fort Pierce, Melbourne, Titusville, Winter Park, Lakeland, Lake Wales, and Leesburg. Classes are also available online.
Activities at the Campus
Artistic, cultural and sports activities and programs enhance student and community life. The Warner Southern College Concert Choir offers a series of performances open to the public that bring more than 10,000 visitors to the campus annually. Japanese students visit the college each summer to participate in the Tamasei English Program. Intercollegiate sports include baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross-country, golf, soccer, track and field, volleyball and softball. As a part of the Florida Sun Conference and affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Warner Southern works hard to compete at a high level in all sports programs. Warner Southern has recently had eight teams compete on the national level.
